With Agrippa93 in non-stop fast forward motion there’s hardly enough time for anything else these days. This also means that my side project, Agrippa’s Laboratory, has suffered from neglect in recent months. My last A-Lab release was in November 2009 with Face Down and Ear Deep and haven’t touched anything since then. There is still plenty of material in the works that’s just sitting there on the shelf collecting dust until I can catch a breather and get back to them.
Currently on deck waiting to see the light of day is a song called the Temple of Horus, which runs almost 8 minutes long. There’s some additional guitar work that needs to be recorded along with some arrangement adjustments to make it a better flowing song, but it is coming to a close.
Another is A Thousand Ways to Die, which originated as an Agrippa93 piece with the 2009 line up that never got finished. The current A93 band members showed no interest in developing in farther, so I adopted it as an A-Lab song. All the vocals have been recorded over a temporary drum track with some synths and sequences. I stripped it of all previous guitar work and will be creating some new more heavily industrial styled guitar lines for it.
There’s also a long list of unnamed A-Lab songs on the waiting list. These are in different stages of development ranging from drum and vocal melodies to near complete pieces lacking only vocals. During the summer, when I have more time and can spend entire days in the studio I’ll be able to make more progress on all of these and hopefully turn out a few here and there to keep this project fresh.
The cycle of A93 Song of the Week is just about complete, so before beginning it again, I was thinking of having Agrippa’s Laboratory week featuring a different song each day. This would cram all of the current songs all in one week instead of over five like the A93 songs. Once that week is over, I’ll begin the cycle again with possible some older songs from the Strict-9 series remastered.
