June 5th Fear Factory Show
With the show only a few days away we are getting things set and ready to go for the big show. Whether we are opening on the main stage of the Webster Theater or the small stage of the Webster Underground, we are being limited to only a 20 minute set, which just doesn’t seem like enough to deliver our music. Our normal set length with our full compliment of finished songs runs roughly 35-40 minutes when you factor in breaks between for tuning and crowd chatter, includes Evocation, City of Pyramids, Forever Wasting Time, Among the Ruins, Pale Horse, and The Edge of Sanity. Two would have to be cut from the list to fit the 20 minute requirement for Saturday night’s performance.
I knew all of us in the same room deciding on which 2 songs to cut would be nearly impossible and too time consuming at band rehearsal, so I used the all-powerful surveymonkey.com to create a poll which could be taken unanimously without any worrying about anyone else’s choices. Here’s the results:
Ok, with done, I’ll summarize the results:
Evocation – 2 people could go either way, 2 want to do it, and 1 will quit the band if we don’t do it.
City of Pyramids – 1 does not want to, 1 could go either way, 3 want to do it
Edge of Sanity – 1 could go either way, 2 want to, and 2 will quit the band if we don’t
Pale Horse – 4 want to, and 1 will quit the band if we don’t.
Among the Ruins – 1 would rather not but would if made to, 2 could go either way, 1 wants to.
Forever Wasting Time - 3 want to, 2 will quit the band if we don’t
Conclusion: One person felt strongly about not doing City of Pyramids, so that was eliminated. We absolutely must do Edge of Sanity, Pale Horse, Evocation, and Forever Wasting Time otherwise people will fucking quit the band if we don’t play those songs. So that is the set list for the Fear Factory show. We’ll have to decide together what order we want to do these in. That should be easier, right?
