Music
I wasn’t feeling well last night, so for the first time ever, I canceled band practice.
New Song Development
I had Monday off due to the snow storm, which gave me the opportunity to work on that song that Myk and I started on Sunday. Most of the day I spent editing and picking out the best parts of his performance. Tonight I’ll be going over the 8 minute recording and arranging the different parts into sections so it will start to sound like a composition. I’ll be focusing on which parts work together and transition well, and to start allocating sections into intro, verse, chorus, etc. This is probably one of the most exciting phases for me in song development, because the seemingly random jam session begins to transform into a musical composition. Some of our best songs started this way.
Live Prep
I have some theories on how to fix the buzzing problem in my PA system, so I’ll give them a try tonight after work. If I’m right about this then it wont cost me anything. More on this tomorrow.
Interests
Apple
The online Apple Store was down for awhile as every Apple fanatic in the world held their breath in great anticipation for new or improved Apple goodness. The reveal brought us updates to the whole line of desktops, which include the Mac Mini, iMac, and Mac Pro. You can check out all the upgrades on the site. Unfortunately I can’t afford any of them and will have to wait another year to replace my aging iMac, which I maxed out with upgrades when I first got it.
Employment
Educational Career
I got an email from Apple today letting me know that my order for 28 MacBooks has gone through and will be delivered on Friday. I very excited about this seeing that our school has been hijacked by Dells since 2005, when the PC nazis running the district IT department forced us to use less than mediocre computers. I think their justification was that all schools needed to conform to their operating and network (below) standards even at the cost of stripping students of user friendly, cost efficient, education driven Macs. Cost efficient you ask? Yes. The initial price is higher than the average PC, but compare hardware, free pre-installed software, resell value, and the savings from less tech support and it all adds up.

You know I’m beginning to think you were raped by a PC as a kid. I can understand you likeing Macs better but that last sentence there sounds like some best buy employee pulling things out of his ass to make an up-sale. And trust me I used to be one.

I’m raped by PC’s every day working in this environment. In fact I have a pile of dead ones just to the right of me as I’m typing this. These are the most common arguments used by Mac haters: Price, no applications, compatibility. 9 years ago these were good arguments, but now they just don’t hold up. By the way, do you need a printer with that? Can I ring that up for you?

Glad your throat is better. Quit chugging extra-large, espresso-boosted coffees. And stop canceling band practice. I need you to tour so I can do all the photo-shoots for you and get rich. It’s all about me.
