(Music written and performed by Agrippa, Dugan, Cabrero in 2008)
Evocation was written and recorded during the winter of 2008 sessions. The song runs for 6:43 minutes and is the 2nd track from Agrippa93’s 2009 album, Beneath the Cypress Tree. Evocation is one of the songs selected for Transmutation.
Lyrics: Like many other lyrics written by Agrippa, Evocation is an occult influenced song referencing a Thelemic high magick ritual used to summon spirits. Other songs with occult or mystical themes include City of Pyramids, Aeon Dawning,Divinity, I Invite, Equilibrium, Forgotten Will, Priest of Thebes, Reincarnate, and Voice From the Corner.

Consecrated
Intent dictated
Flames ignited
Spirit invited
I don the robes of purity
Sigils on tapestries
Candles in front of me
I speak the words of summoning
The Incense is smoldering
Begin the conjuring
Heed to my evocation
Awaken here and manifest
Obey my evocation
Enter, my unseen guest
senses intensified
fear and doubt cast aside
Spirit identified
my words you will abide
Senses intensified
Fear and doubt cast aside
Spirit identified
My words you will abide
I don the robes of purity
Sigils on tapestries
Candles in front of me
I speak the words of summoning
The Incense is smoldering
Begun the conjuring
Heed to my evocation
Awaken here and manifest
Obey my evocation
Enter, my unseen guest
Exist through pure vibration
Summoned forth in my control
Obey my evocation
Go forth, fulfill your role
Obey my evocation
Go forth, fulfill your role
In Studio: Evocation was produced and engineered by Agrippa. There were some disagreements amongst the band members as to the direction of the song, however the end result pleased everyone involved.
Agrippa – Vocals, synths, sequencer, bass programming, and drum programming.
Myk Dugan – Lead and rhythm guitars, and backing vocals.
Carlos Cabrero – Lead and rhythm guitars.
As part of the Transmutation project, Evocation is being re-imaged by the current A93 lineup to conform with the current sound.
Live Performance: Evocation was performed live as the opening song during the 2009 shows and will be returning to the set list in its new Transmutation form.
“It worked well as an opening song because of the gradual build in the intro of the song and then segue into the heavy syncopated onslaught of the driving rhythm patterns. It demands your attention.” – Agrippa
