Agrippa: Thought Manifest

Forever Wasting Time

forever wasting time

(Music written by Williams and Agrippa)

Forever Wasting Time was released on January 25, 2010 and was the 1st song written in collaboration with the current Agrippa93 line up. It is also the 1st A93 song to be written in a rehearsal environment as a opposed to all past work originating from foundation tracks designed on a computer. Originally entitled Body Drop, the song was 1st intended to be a collaborative work between Williams and Agrippa as an Agrippa’s Laboratory piece. Shortly after Williams joined Agrippa93, Body Drop was brought to the working table again to be used as an Agrippa93 song and the name changed to Forever Wasting Time once lyrics were established.

“This is a bit of a departure from the Agrippa93 that some may be used to and hopefully those people will like the subtle change since this is probably a pretty good indication of what the band will sound like from here on.” – Scott Williams

Lyrics: The lyrics to Forever Wasting Time evoke the concept and imagery of a human lifespan, aging, and time wasted. Vocal melodies were worked out during rehearsal and lyrics soon followed.

Lyrics written by Agrippa in 2009.

A lifetime and legacy of apathy

A moment of predestined clarity

A thought form of instant eternity

The gentle seduction of laxity

The tiring concept of ceaselessness

A feeling of unfaded ancientness

Looking though eyes spanning emptiness

A second of time in this endlessness

Followed the ever dying sun

Watch the falling sands

Seems like forever wasting time away

Survived the long and colder nights

Watch the falling sands

Seems like forever wasting time away

A system of natural processing

Existence – a phase of transitioning

A moment reflecting the quickening

Absorbed by the current  of time passing

Followed the ever dying sun

Watch the falling sands

Seems like forever wasting time away

Survived the long and colder nights

Watch the falling sands

Seems like forever wasting time away

The season changed – eternal wheel

Watching the sands of time fall through the glass

measuring time through circumstance

An instant point in time – the hour’s passed

“This was the 1st song we worked on together in a band rehearsal atmosphere, which is an entirely different approach that I’ve been used to over the years. It forced me way out of my comfort zone challenging me to look at song writing from a different perspective. This approach had powerful results infused with everyones energies and will be the way we do things from now on. It’s made me a better musician.” – Agrippa

Live Performance: Forever Wasting Time was written specifically to be played live and will be included in the setlist for future performances.

“Like everything we write now, the goal of ‘Forever’ was to create a piece that could be 100% performed live. This was a huge challenge for me, because in the past I’d been pretty liberal with the use of synths, keyboards, and sequences. Now I had to re-think things and ask myself, ‘Can I pull this off live?’. What you hear on the recording is what you’ll hear live.” – Agrippa
