Beneath the Cypress Tree is the 2009 debut album from Agrippa93. Recording sessions began at Sickle Pation Studio in late spring of 2008 and continued until February 2009 and released later on June 8th 2009 for digital download on Amazon, iTunes, Rhapsody, and several other online retailers and then on CD. The album was produced and engineered by Agrippa.

With the inclusion of 2 additional guitarist (Dugan and Cabrero) to the band this album marked a turning point to a more guitar driven sound for Agrippa93 compared to the industrial focus of past songs.

The main subjects of the album include the occult themes (City of Pyramids, Evocation, LVX, Reincarnate) and death (Reincarnate, Death By Inhalation, October Mourning, Fade Into Oblivion). Two of the songs on the album, Reincarnate and Face of Fear, are actually recreations of earlier version written and recorded in 2004.

Title: The phrase Beneath the Cypress Tree was taken from the 1st line in the last song on the album, Fade Into Oblivion (see quote above). The cypress tree is associated with death and mourning and is often planted beside graves in cemeteries.

Personnel Background: Beneath the Cypress Tree marked the 1st collection of songs written by Agrippa93 as a band rather than as an individual project by founder, Agrippa. It was the last under this personnel line up.

Agrippa - Lead and back up vocals, synths, sequence programming, piano, guitars (onStranger in the Mirror), bass guitar, bass programming, and drum programming.

Myk Dugan - Lead and rhythm guitars, acoustic guitars, back up vocals, lead vocals/growls on Death by Inhalation.

Carlos Cabrero - Lead and rhythm guitars and acoustic guitars.

Cabrero left A93 shortly after the album was completed during preparations for live performances. Agrippa and Dugan sought out additional members for the band to support a live delivery of the songs. These new members included Alex Richard, Galen Bessette, and Joe Deep, who continued with A93 until October 2009 when lineup changed again.

Cover and Liner Notes Design: The original cover photography by Bryan Winterhoff consisted of mostly blue and yellow hues, however Raymond Larose manipulated the image to shades of red to produce a darker, more erie feeling to it.
